I like the contrast with the dark background and the great pose of the Heron
The perch is a little busy, but at the same time unusual

    Craig:

The bird does in fact pop from the BG well. Well exposed, and there are some interesting lines in the perch. I wish the bill didn't merge with the rear wing quite so much, it gets lost a bit there.

You could probably safely crop a bit from the left (perhaps 10% of the free space there)

    Cheers

I also like how the Heron and the perch pop out from the BG. I like the wing detail and the steel blue color of the Heron and the small red eye. The perch is fine with me.

I like the perch. I might try to tone down the "white wash". Light looks to be a bit harsh , but handled well.

Nice landing pose. I like the position of the close wing. Light is a bit harsh but exposure looks good.

    Thanks for your comments -
Randy - It is a pity about the head blending with the wing but these birds some times just don't want to play the game :-)

I agree with Randy about the bill/wing merge. Techs look good, details are nice, and I too am OK with the perch - it's kinda neat!
