Default A Sacred Ibis coming in to land...

Here is a Sacred Ibis that I photographed recently in Kenya.

The light in Kenya can be pretty harsh during the day and not suitable for photographing birds with black and white plumage.

On this particular afternoon the light was heavily diffused by cloud cover and there was rain at times which made it perfect for an otherwise tricky exposure.

    Taken on a Canon 1DX, 400mm lens at f4, 1/2500 and ISO800.

More images from my recent trip to Kenya can be found on my blog ( link below ).

    Cheers

    Austin

Well done Austin. Perfect comp, exposure, and the BG shows a subtle hint of habitat which is a nice touch.

Nice to read that you had good luck weather wise. Nice bird and excellent pose. Nice green habitat and sharp too!

Wow, very nice detail. Looks like you had some even light out there. You captured the moment at such a dynamic time! The perfectly outstretched wings, head and feet angle are spot on.

Super landing pose with nice exposure on a tough subject. I actually saw one of these near Miami a few years back. What a surprise. Must have escaped from somewhere.

    This is excellent Austin.
    I love the perfect exposure.
The underwing detail is great and reminds me of a folded fan.
I like the comp and BG as well.

    Wonderful shot.
I really like the pose, exposed very well, and great background.
