Haven't seen this species here in any numbers for the last few years. Today was a small fallout. Had to be carefull where you stepped as they were mostly feeding on the ground and didn't care that there were people around. Noticed that every once in a while they would go to the Yellow Ragweed , so I set myself up and waited. They did as expected and provided some nice opportunities.

    Joe,

Greetings. The color composition is superb. Wish for just a bit more room on right and top. Good show!

    Cheers,

Joe, this one trumps me. A species I really want. This is stunning. I would crop this to a vertical with more room to the right, as I feel the ragweed as nice as it is can over power this little bird. I wish it was mine.

Beautiful image Joe. I like the perch, pose, complimenary flowers and BG.

This is sweet indeed. Would like to see more to the right as well. Patience paid off again!

Ha! I just photographed a bunch of them yesterday up here too...there were ALOT of them butr they mostly hung out high up in spruce trees. Great way to anticipate your image Joe, and it paid off nicely. I too wish there was more room to the right, but a special image nonetheless.

The crown shows nicely and the bird looks quite relaxed (as far as this species goes).
The perch cannot be beat....awesome! A stunning "non set up" image of this species sir.

Great pose showing the gold and ruby on the top of the head, Joe.
I also wish it were mine.

It looks like a set up, Joe.
I mean that in a good way.
    Very attractive and well done.
