    Default Blue Dacnis

Sorry for my lack of participation on the forum lately! I haven't had any time to take photos for the past couple of months, so I went through my old images to find something post-worthy. Here's a Blue Dacnis female taken in Costa Rica earlier this year. Their feathers are quite coarse looking; this is a faithful representation of the bird's plumage IMO.

    Doug Sir:
    Marvelous image.I like the composition.
Love the pose of the beautifully colored Dacnis, which superbly pops up on dark green backdrop, colors and lovely details.Nice perch too.
I have not seen this bird before.Male must be more colorful than female. TFS.

    Regards,
    Satish.

Hi Doug, if this lady has such striking colours, I would be very interested to see how many colours the male has. A lovely pose on a fine moss covered perch, and overall, great fill flash.

A spectacular bird, and beautifully captured. (One of many tropical specialties that I failed to get in either Panama or Costa Rica). Great pose and BG. Interesting about the coarse plumage -- at first glance I thought the image was noisy, but that's certainly not the case at ISO 400, and on close inspection there's some really fine detail.

Love the female of this species, Doug, and you captured it well all-around. Fill-flash looks right on for my taste. I'll be back there next week with a group -- bet you're jealous but it won't be long for you either

    Cheers,
    Greg

Beautiful bird and nicely done, Doug. It would be nice if you posted the male as well. If the female is so nice, the male must be striking.

Have a great time! It'll be nice to have you come visit the states next month; I'll enjoy being a host instead of a guest for a change!
