    Default Lesser Yellowlegs

I posted a "Greater" a couple of weeks ago, and now the first "Lesser" of the year. The area in question was quite cluttered at the shore with the rising water levels but a low angle minimized that. Lucky for me this fella walked by some flowers just to put a bit of colour among the debris .

Canon 7D + 100-400L @400mm, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/500s., f/6.3, ISO 800 (settings histogram checked), natural light, handheld, Some offending twigs removed between the subject's legs (clone and patch tools).

That's a good one! A most appealing habitat indeed. Also: a good looking bird, pretty light and background and details. Again and again I admire your willingness to get mucky and dirty and possibly fetid. It pays off, as evidenced here...

Well Jack, having spent time with Daniel on an IPT, I can concur that he gets mucky, but never fetid.

Daniel: good angle , pose, vegetation adds, smooth background.

Perhaps 1/4 stop brighter for my tastes

    Cheers

Daniel, your outstanding images are now always in the back of my mind when I approach shorebirds and waterbirds. You have a great eye, and apparently a wicked belly crawl, for getting a beautiful crisp bird against a soft bkgd.

Love the exposure, low angle. Flowers & vegetation add a lot to the frame. Thanks for sharing.

You have a lot of fun getting muddy, Daniel. Like it very much with the colorful vegetation. Techs as expected; I like it as it is presented. Well done.

Dan this is a super shot, I love the composition and the pose, the surrounding vegetation is idyllic. Whilst I do not think the legs are overexposed and you probably have some reflected light I would consider lowering the brightness on the legs just to see if those highlights could be brought down a little.

Great shot. You have been getting allot of very nice shots in subdued light lately. The even light and great techs make for a nice look. This one has a good pose, HA and BG. The color in the veg makes the photo that much more appealing. Nice!
