    Beautiful image. I always have trouble getting them to take off anywhere near my direction. The 400/5.6 is still a great lens. Believe the black and white processing works really well for this image.

    I agree this is a stunning image; very sharp, perfect exposure keeping the details in the white feathers, and great action. I love how the white bird contrasts with the very dark background. I can't think of a thing I would change. Well done.

    Very nice take off pose. Great wing position, I really like the dark background, and great lighting.

    Interesting pose here, and I love the two feet launching up in the air with trailing water off both. The off angle lighting works well for the most part, I just wish the face was better lit. Looks like the image needs some CW rotation if looking at the breaking water surface...

    Nico, very nice pose and timing. Might just be my monitor, but the background looks very posterized to me. Since no one else commented on that, I'll assume it really is my monitor!
