I was following a whimbrel as he foraged along the high tide line ahead of me. This most cooperative dowitcher was in between us, and I created a few images of him along the way.
Cleaned up a bit of stray beach debris and cropped for comp. Slight taming of highlights and shadows with Nik. (Light was quite harsh).

Lovely pose. I like the diagonal line created by the slope of the beach and the wings. As you said light is a bit harsh.
Wonderful details on the feathers and tack sharp.
Since you have already done some cleanup I would get rid of the white dots in front of and above the beak.

Very nice clean image with great detail. A little bit of a lower angle (assuming the bg wouldn't have changed) would have been an added bonus. Nice clean-up and detail extraction

Very nice shot there's not much wrong with the 2x TC is there? Lovely exposure and details, I rather like the water bubbles near the shadow but I agree about removing the small white highlights.

Good job with the light you were working with. The head and beak are very sharp and stand out nicely against the creamy sand BG. Exposure looks great too. Nice Work.

Terrific pose, good detail. Given the harsh light, I wonder what a reduction in contrast might do.
