Tern Triptych

Maureen and I went to Cedar Key on Monday looking for scrub jays and instead found a charming group of terns and willets camped out on a private dock. I used Fractalius Glow 100 on this one. I think it probably needs a CW rotation but some of the top boards were warped and I didn't have a good angle on it so this is the way it turned out

The lineup is a real spectacle. I like the blue & brown combination and the active birds at the right end. The cloud in the upper left flows nicely toward the flying tern on the right, and the lines of the bottom of the dock bring the eye back to the left because of the perspective. That makes for an effective composition. I played with some alternate amounts of sky to move the birds away from the center. Additional sky wasn't bad (I really like the sky), especially when I darkened it gradually toward the top. However, your composition might be the best. I was just trying things to see what happened and wasn't going to do a re-post, but I'm curious to see what others think, so here goes . . .

Thanks, Dennis, it was quite a line-up! I like your repost. Most of the time the dock floor was covered with willets and the railing was a long line of terns. I'll post a different view this afternoon which shows even more "brown and blue".

Love the triptych view. I think if this were mine, I'd take a different approach and crop down from the top to just above the highest flying tern.
