Hi everyone,
Once upon a time I was a regular contributor to BPN, but then graduate school and major life changes got in the way. I'm hoping that I might be able to rejoin the community here. Life has had its twists and turns but I still run a (tiny) jack-of-all-trades photography and archival inkjet printing business in Cary, North Carolina. (When I moved from Durham almost a year ago, the printer the size of a sofa moved with me...)
My subject matter has changed some. I now have a freshly minted M.A. from the University of Missouri School of Journalism.... never mind that it took me over three years to complete a two year degree. The final project, A River in Reverse: Asian carp and The Great Lakes was the capstone of that experience. Of course, now that I have a degree in journalism, I'm photographing for global newspapers and National Geographic weddings. But hey, they pay, and they can be fun! Especially if you're into multiple flash portraits, which strangely enough, I find really interesting (if challenging.) I was able to get out to Florida a couple times this year, and have a backlog of landscapes that I might look to you all for ideas.
I'm also at a point where I'm trying to figure out some new gear (I'm fully aware I might be the last person left still using the 1D Mark III and 5D Mark II combination) so I'm looking forward to discussing some new options going forward.
Any ways, thanks for reading, and it's good to be back!
It's nice to have you back, David, and congratulations on your master's degree. My 1D3 is still going strong! Looking forward to seeing some of your newer work and maybe meeting you during one of your trips down to Florida.
