Photographed this palm warbler yesterday (Duluth, Minnesota). It came in fast and curious to check out the yellow rumped MP3 I was playing at the time.
I think it also helps to have a number of other birds in the area, who are interested in the seed and suet I have out. Canon7d, Sigma50/500os,
iso800, f9, 1/640, cropped, selectively ran NR on the bg, adjusted levels and contrast, USM. Comments and critiques welcome.

Shawn Zierman.
Lovely light on the bird, I also loved the perch and catch light in the birds eye. HA is perfect too. I would have tried to tone down the bright highlights on the perch.
Great shot. Perfect light and very nice detail. Perfect exposure, HA, catch light and f9 really gave this allot of DOF. I love the detail on the feet. The BG complements the bird nicely. Perch looks good on my monitor. That bigma looks like its workn well. Are you @ 5000mm on most of your posts?
Nice work
David
Excellent light, background, lovely pose and beautiful background.
By showing just enouh of the relatively heavy perch for the small bird, it is not overwhelming at all.
In fact I like the raggedy look with some nice lichen on it, Shawn.
Shawn:
Absolutely superb image with just every thing is perfect and at it's place.
Love inquisitive pose, great details, perch, backdrop and lovely composition.
If you are not against cloning, would reconstruct the tip of the tail behind the perch.
Lovely, and I enjoy the warm tones throughout and nice details. I wouldn't clone back in the tail tip because then it would look like if it were in front of the perch. Funny you had a palm coming in to a yellow-rumped call as yesterday I had a yellow-rumped coming in to a Savannah Sparrow call!
Thank you for the great feedback.
David: Depends on the subject in regards to being zoomed out to 500mm. Shorebirds-no, warblers-always, finches-no, woodpeckers-usually, raptors-always, and so on...
Daniel: I've been pondering why some birds respond to calls of other species...maybe memories or just differences in personalities...I enjoy the mystery and surprise of it all.
Munish, here is a version of the image with the lichens toned down.
