I like the pose, details, water drops, dark water and sharpness. Well done Jonathan.

    Jonathan:

I think your little grebe is excellent, well exposed, very sharp, nice pose and comp. Like the underwater vegetation.

Sometimes we tend to think only the latest and greatist gear can give top results, but this one is obvious evidence to the contrary.

Now where did I leave my D1X?

    Cheers

Hi Jon, my first digital camera was a 20D, and it too produced great results like this. Excellent detail on the grebe, tack sharp, and you have a captured a great swimming pose. Good IQ on the droplets, and if anything, I would take a bit off the bottom.

The thumbnail doesn't do this image justice.
IQ is excellent and I love the dark, moody colors.
I would remove the extra catchlight.
    Just lovely,
    Gail

I am truly impressed by this capture, Jonathan. The exposure is absolutely terrific and details are so amazing that this bird looks life like to me. Love those water drops on its back and the green water.

    Lovely frame. Green and serene!
The details really sing on this one. The translucency of the water is cool!
