Default kite at 1200mm and low light

I liked this frame because of open beak and the kill. It was taken at sunset so I had to use high ISO (3200) and lower my shutter speed. results were great given that I was handholding a 1200mm rig at only 1/1250sec! Details came out great after processing.

I think this has got to be one of my favourites, I love the action shots but the lighting and ambience in this shot is gorgeous.

I just saw this image on NSN.
It looks soooo much better in this size and with the black around oppose to gray.
Great work in adverse condition. I would clone out part of the branch (about three inches) running parallel to the bird's breast and belly
if it were mine. I wish it were!!!

Pretty awesome for 3200 ISO. Well done. Next month we'll give the 600s a major real world test. It should be a blast. I can't wait.

I love the diversity of your kite portfolio. You cover a lot of natural history with one subject.
This is a great image with superb quality made possible by your know how and high end gear....

Freakishly good technique, Arash, both in the capture and in the processing. What a superb result.

    Arash,

Beautiful image. The higher resolution image is awesome for iso 3200. Please tell us a little about your processing. I'm not wild about the OOF branch in the background next to the bird. I don't clone out, but I would burn to darken it a little to make it less annoying.

thanks everyone. I use Canon DPP for RAW conversion and then calibrated plug-in based NR in photoshop to remove the noise and sharpen the details after resizing. It has a number of steps that are explained in my guide.

    Thanks again for nice comments/suggestions!

Stunningly beautiful. When I see ISO 3200 I get gear envy, my ISO 400 shots don't look this nice.........
