I might take a bit off the bottom to decrease impact of OOF rock.

I agree with the comments above, and would add that it might help to darken the rock a little. The bird is so nice, but the eye gets pulled down to the bright out-of-focus areas at the bottom.
Hi Jon, love the inquisitive pose, and you have brought excellent detail on the starling, and sharp where it counts. Im fine with the FG at the bottom, but would take a bit off the top. Have you try a vertical version, as then you could leave that space on top.
