One of my favorite birds, these little divers are great fun to watch. Captured in late afternoon sun on almost the last day of the year, so the light is nice and warm.

Hi Kerry! I love the puffed-up grebe pose! The contrast with the blue is very pretty. Gotta' love those eyes! I'd be tempted to move him out of center (cropping off some on the bottom and viewer's left).

Hi Kerry ,I keep coming back to your photograph ,mainly because it is so interesting , but , also because I can't quite put my finger on what it needs to really make it stand out .
I feel it is a great ( action ) photo ,but needs a bit more ,action . I want to see more of the tiny water droplets flying off the feathers . Seems the only way to get that would be a tighter crop . For my take on it ,I would have the out stretched neck along the top of the frame with the body closer to the left frame edge . Don't loose the droplets though . Just my thoughts ( $0.02 ) Of course ,With a well shot photo like this one , the Artistic vision is the only thing to be discussed ,and that ( As we all know ) will very with each viewer .

Hi Kerry, this is a really nice capture. Excellent clarity, good color and it shows some action. Agree with Clyde on moving bird to slightly to the upper left of the frame, taking the body out of center while bringing more attention to the rippled reflection and droplets if possible.
