I love these little diving birds. I sometimes watch their antics for hours. Captured in late afternoon light on the penultimate day of 2010 (the day before new year's eve).

Gotta love that eye! The light quality is excellent. Sharpness and details are spot on.
I enjoy the water beads on the back...evidence of recent diving. Compositionally, I think
the image is just fine as is, but...a consideration might be to crop just a bit tighter while
keeping the same ratio, mainly to eliminate the sky blue water bit right on the top of
the frame on the right hand side.

Nice and sharp. Good exposure. Nice water droplets on the back.I see a need for a slight bit of CW rotation,

I think that Gail may have meant CCW rotation as the bird is swimming slightly uphill. I'd selectively sharpen the face just a bit with a contrast mask and then lighten the face a smidgeon.

Very nice indeed, for me suggest move bird back a tad and as mentioned he is swimming a little up hill.

Great exposure and terrific details you acquired here, Kerry. The eye stands out quite nicely, you have a nice little head turn and I like the water droplets on the bird. The image needs an ever-so-slight CW, but not even sure I"d bother unless you plan on printing it.
