The Black headed herons are going about building their nests, and every now and again, they will fly off to bring back more nesting material. Taken early morning. Dont ask me how the leaves decided to part at the time of capture, but I thought I would leave them in.

Superb shot Stuart. Excellent comp, I really like the pose and angle of the incoming heron, exposed very well and excellent details.
Ohh and those leaves really add some motion to the shot.
    Well done.

I really like the action and the flying leaves.
I would like a bit more of the nest included at the bottom of the frame. Seems a bit cut off as is.
Good exposure and IQ is excellent,
    Gail

Thanks Gail. The nest is actually a bonus. I was only concentrating on the incoming heron, but when I saw that I had the nest as well, Ive included it. Unfortunately, thats all the nest I have.

Robert, Satish, thanks for your feedback too.

    Stuart:

The loose leaves add a lot for me. I could see a tight crop without the nest at all, if IQ will tolerate. Sharp and nicely exposed.

Would prefer the body not be cut by the tree line, but works well overall.

    Cheers

Great capture, I really like the juxtaposition of the two birds. As usual super detail in the plumage, I agree the twig and the two leaves provide added interest. Just maybe the nest area has been cropped a little too much?
