I'm really fortunate to have my own little "Jamaica Bay" about five minutes from where I live in Duluth, Minnesota.
During each spring and fall migratory period I can find good subjects in a very workable situation. The area is also
muddy and (maybe gross) enough, that nobody else is ever out there. For this image, as with most that I make at
this spot, I'm very much submerged in the water, crawling around....getting close. The only drawback is a consistent
case of duck lice(!), terrible at this spot, and if you itch the bites and they get infected, it gets a bit nasty. Totally worth
it though. SonyA300, Sigma50/500, iso400, f9, 1/1000, cropped, cloned a few specular highlights out of the water,
and removed two dust sensor spots, selective NR to the background, USM. Comments and critiques welcome.
Regards,
Shawn Zierman.
