I was able to capture this image in the Atchafalaya NWR. I went looking for swallow tailed kites and found plenty of these beautiful birds. This one landed on a pipeline marker about 20 feet in front of me. After reading a recent BAA Bulletin on using fill flash on small birds, I decided to try it out. Don't know if it helped much.

Noise reduction in BB Pro during conversion, digital basics steps. 90% crop. Had to do some work on the eye due to the flash. C&C appreciated.

One of my favorite warblers....and I'm headed to get one tomorrow. I think you did well and the flash seems to look good. Did you get any images without the flash going off? That will usually tell you if it had any affect or not. I do like the dark green BG.....really shows of the bird's colors. Nice PS on the eye, too.
