    This is really nice Melissa,
I like the shadow on the ground and on the far wing.
Very nice comp. Beautiful light and I like the asymmetric wing pose. Good exposure on the whites.
I see a dust spot to the left of the near wing, halfway between left edge and wing.I think I would desat the legs a bit more.
    Good one!

    Very nice comp

Beautiful! What a pose, and the shadow provides the perfect grounding.

Sweet flight pose and so low to the ground too...nice work.
I agree that the dust bunny is noticeable. The saturation/colors
look good to me, given the warm low angled light...A consideration
would be to run NR selectively on at least the water portion of the
image. Also, a sliver of a crop up from the bottom to eliminate
the slightly darker oof band of sand might be a subtle improvement.

Thanks for the comments, you all. Ok, removed the dust spot, did NR on the background, and cropped out the darkish stuff on the bottom edge.

Wow ... I really should have followed you out onto that spit of sand ... you got some great stuff out there!
Wonderful pose and BG on this one!

Dust and NR look good in repost but I would prefer the extra room at the bottom even with the slightly darker area.
You could try some selectively lightening if the dark areas bother you.

Repost looks great, so is the original with very minor flaws; wouldn't even have noticed those.
    Great work, Melissa.

Melissa: Very dramatic. Breathtaking. I think a lot of it has to do w/ the shadow on the ground as Gail pointed out - it connects the bird to the ground and somehow emphasizes the power of flight. Others have offered great insights that I would not even have noticed. Overall a stunning image.

Excellent. To get this low an angle for the landing is just great work!
The shadow is perfect and the IQ is superb.
