Beautiful Spotted Sandpiper portrait, Dave. I really like the open bill, the drop and the ripples, and the super IQ and details. I think I might see a slight magenta cast but see if others do, it may just be my monitor. Stopping down a bit might have helped bring the tail more into focus. But overall a great image.

Love the bird and the water droplet. EXP good and the face is sharp. A bit too much space above and not enough below for my taste. Though the bird's head is perfectly parallel to the imaging sensor it is actually turned away a bit from the line of the bird's body. Lastly, I think that this could have used more d-o-f to sharpen up the wing covert feathers--they are a lot closer to us than the sharp eye and d-o-f is at a premium when you are working at close range.

Nice pose and exposure. Really like the open bill, water droplet, water ring and BG. For me, this really needs some off the top and more on the bottom if you have it.

Hi Dave, love the leaning pose, and I really like the detail on the head and beak, and with a slight hint of the tongue. Comp wise, I agree with Marina to take some off the top, and add to the bottom. I do wish you had more DOF, but the droplet puts this over the top.

Thanks so much everybody. I was so intent on reducing the effect of the bright and blobby reflection it appears I over compensated.
