We have Wild Dogs denning on Thornybush for the first time in the reserve's history. They came in from the Timbivati Game reserve... We have 5 adults and 8 pups left of the original 9. We hope they will stay with us for a while and over the few sightings we have had I finally got some good Wild Dog images.

Very nice Dumay and congrats on getting a few in your reserve.
The low angle and mud is really nice.

Dumay - So that's where they went . I hope you continue to have lots of sightings of them. Nice drinking pose with the raised, muddy rear leg. Good color and detail.

I love the pose and moment here. Having only recently broken my "wild dog drought" myself, I can fully appreciate your glee with the current status quo

I felt that you could extract some detail still out of this guy...so here's a quick repost if you don't mind, bud...

    1. toned down overall highlights with Robert's luminosity mask at 40% opacity
    2. ran Nik Tonal Contrast on the dog selectively, all settings below 20 on the sliders and set opacity of the Nik layer to 50%

    WDYT??

    Hi Dumay,
good to hear you finally got what you wanted.Always nice to see this guys.
Like the drinking position and the framing of the doggie. Good colors as usual and fine details.
I think you can push the contrast even a bit more.
I would try a overlay blend with the red channel as B/W blend at 40%. See what you get and if you like it.

Morkel brought out some nice tones , but image is a tad too dark for my taste.

    Cheers Andreas

Hi Dumay, nice to see an image from you and great to know you have WD's in your location now.

Looks like the light was quite strong which was handled well, however I like the action of the WD drinking and the raised rear leg illustrating just how sticky and glutinous that mud was. I think you can push it a bit more as illustrated in Morkel's post, perhaps a tad more, but prefer your mud in the BKG colour, avoiding too much red coming through. You could try the blend as Andreas suggested too, but you might also see what a slight tweak in both Neutral & blacks in Selective colour just to add a bit more depth/richness to the overall image. Good call on the techs, perhaps you could have dropped the ISO? Personally I might just crop out that hint of mud just creeping in on the RH crop edge.

Morkel brought out some nice tones , but image is a tad too dark for my taste.
Doesn't look dark to me Andreas, looks ok.

Thanks guys, I like what you have done Morkel! I am out of practice on my PP and my monitor might be beginning to show its age as I have been getting many crits and recommendations on color and brightness...I will take a look at the suggestions!
