Today is the 3rd celebration of WORLD RHINO DAY.
Between 2008 and 2011, a total of 1374 rhinos have been illegally poached in Southern Africa to fuel the trade of rhino horn on the black market.

Here are some resource where you can get more info and find out how to get involved in raising awareness and/or funds in aid of anti-poaching and educational campaigns.

    Hi Morkel,
nice rhino in landscape shot for celebrating this day.Hopefully one day people will stop poaching these creatures, but to be honest i think sadly they will go on until the last one get killed. There enough examples that happened in the past, for various reasons. Does not matter what they are used for , horns, trophies or just by disturbing our hunger for more space on this planet for us ,the humans.

Like the layered landscape with good morning or evening light.Like the colors and contrast combined with your usual IQ.Rhino positioned nicely in the frame and i get can get a feeling of the habitat it is living in.

Hi Morkel - thanks for joining in and for posting the links. Always nice to see a black rhino and in beautiful, warm light. Good timing to get the head in the clearing.

Hi Morkel, the light has worked well in defining the structure & form nicely and good to see the different habitat they live in compared to Rachel's posting.

I'm not sure if it's the sloping hills, but I feel I want to slightly rotate the Rhino, not the backdrop? Perhaps a hint more image at the foot?

Well, if the Rhino' s and Tigers go, what is next, and for what?

Great light, and nice scene. I would like to see more sky personally. Thanks for your caring and support to the Rhinos of our country!
