GBH are so skittish here in NS that I was pleased to get this. I crept through the grasses in my waders slowly over a 20 minute period so as to not spook this guy. While I was crawling towards him he caught 3 eels and 2 flatfish. I was worried that by the time I got close enough he would be too full for any food shots. However, once I got in position he ate 3 more eels and 3 fish! I do have more room on the right but not the entire wake. Suggestions?
Comments and critiques always appreciated and learned from with thanks,
    Gail

Hi Gail, I really like the light in this. You have captured a great moment with the eel wriggling around the bill of the GBH, the last moments before it goes down the hatch. Good detail on the GBH, and he is nicely separated from the BG. I feel your comp is just right with the placement of the Heron, and looks like the parallel lines of the wake could go on for ever, so I would leave your comp as is.

Hope you managed a take off shot?

Terrific light on this one and a nice low angle. I like the water ripple and the eel makes this one special. Good job on moving to your subject. It takes time but it's usually worth it.

Beutiful light, Gail. The prey in the beak and the nice light and background makes this picture for me.

Wonderful shot. Love the light, great pov, great timing getting it with the eel, and very nice background.
    Well done.

Ditto all the positives above but I am wondering why nobody mentioned that the head is turned well away from the viewer....
