I wanted to go out this evening for a bit of photography and often I look back at prior years, same date, to see what was around. I came to this series, taken in 2007, of a wonderful young red tail hawk that graced our local beach for a couple weeks. She was quite a celebrity with the locals, and then one day, she was gone. While this isn't sharp like my standards today, I still will keep it happily and wanted to share it with you.

Wow, this is beautiful Grace. I have a shot of one perching on the same kind of tree/shrub on a foggy morning.
It is still one of my favorites because of the perch.

Not sharp to your standards..., in my opinion this is very sharp and lovely! I wish it was mine. All I would have done is to crop a tad on top.

    Hi Grace,
    Love the perch!
    Great lookback pose as well.
The body and tail are tack sharp but I can see why you aren't 100% happy with the eye area as it it sharp but not tack sharp. Still a very minor issue and definitely a keeper. thanks for sharing with us,
    Gail

Yes the eye seems soft. Amazing to see just how far you have come in such a short time.

handsome bird and a nice pose. it looks sharp to me. It looks like a juvenile bird (yellow iris) but there is something strange in the beak area? maybe local variation?

Hi Grace, I think you are selling yourself short here, looks pretty ok and sharp to me. You have brought out good detail and colours, good DOF, and yes, that perch is great.

Isn't great to go back to older files, and see what we produced then, and to present day.

Looks like you had the same talents for recognizing a good shot back then that you have now, Grace. Love the pose, the head angle, that perch. Looks plenty sharp to me.

Nothing wrong with your shot. I think people on the Forum get too hung up on sharpness. Bill
