    Nikon D300s | 500mm | 1/2000sec | F6.3 | ISO 1600

    A casual visit to the nearby lake turned out to be an exciting day for me. Thanks to this great black bird who allowed me to take some decent photographs.

    Hi Somak, great close up and love the green eye. This view certainly shows off that dangerous bill, and you have brought out the overall detail nicely. Comp wise, Im finding this a bit too squarish, so taking a bit off the bottom and adding to the right will work, but thats just a personal thing.

    Somak, that eye looks like an jewel inlay! Excellent portrait. The crop doesn't bother me.

    Very nice details and colours. Bg looks great. There is a bit of a smudge along the top of the upper mandible that needs to be looked at, and I too find the crop a bit awkward - I'd have preferred less at right and more below.
