Berry Treats
I wanted to work in an an area of Fractalious that I seldom visit and start from. I began this warbler image with the slow motion preset and developed this image. It's a subtle difference from glow or shaggy. I also softened the overall bird just a touch and then masked back in the eye detail. Cropped square so the bird is quite centered and I'm not sure about those results. I'll appreciate all thoughts.
Dave, slow motion is one of my favorite presets! And I like the results you achieved. I'd evict the stray bush on the right hand side if it were mine. Actually, no, I think I'd leave it in and try to clone in more branches so they fill the black space in between the bush the bird is sitting in and the branch on the rhs. I'm also a litle confused about the brown tail feather hanging underneath. I'm not sure if it's distracting. And I think a little crop from the top would be OK. I know all that sounded really picky and I like it as presented. I particularly like the berry in the beak

Very nice composition, Dave! I like the pose... berry in the beak is certainly catches the attention. I also like the light. I agree with Cheryl on the stray bush on the lower right edge and the dark tail feather. May be masking back just a bit of details will take care of that. Excellent processing!
I like what you did with Fractalius. It's a good effect on both the bird and the berries. I also like the way you framed the bird left to right. And I agree with Cheryl and Indranil about the berry in the beak. That adds a lot to the image.
Although it does result in a loss of a lot of the berries, I'd be inclined to frame it vertically more like this. It puts the bird on the primary diagonal (upper left to lower right), and its eye is on a line that divides the image vertically in the divine proportion. While I was at it, I used the Mixer Brush in CS6 to bring back the lower part of its breast and the region Cheryl mentioned near its tail.
Thanks everyone for your time and thoughts. Cheryl, not picky at all but just good constructive thoughts. I can see where some digital gardening might help the area between the bush and branch. The area under the tail bothers me a bit also and I think I can mask back in some of the covert to get something in there to balance it out. Thanks also for your thoughts Indranil. Dennis I like your crop as an alternative and it shows some more possibilities. I do like where the eye falls in your crop.

Very nice work Dave, I love it! I like Dennis' crop with a touch more room on the bottom. Love the background and the perfect amount of glow!
