Okay - something other than a monochrome here...
Your honest thoughts appreciated - does it work for you?
I'm undecided here...sometimes I look at this and like it, other times I wonder if it should be binned. Perhaps it's because I would've liked more 'legs' visible?

    Techs:
    Canon 40D with 70-200mm f2.8 L IS USM @ 150mm
    f5.6 @ 1/5000 SS @ ISO-800

Morkel, because you asked I will be honest and say that it isn't something I'd probably keep. The image isn't one thing or another, having a bit of detail on the zebra but not enough and I don't think going to a full silhouette would be very exciting either, because there isn't enough in the composition to carry it. I think that you're right, more legs would have helped, perhaps a more interesting sky (i.e. warm evening light) and some interaction with another zebra. Or even if the zebra had been looking with interest at something with ears pricked. Just my thoughts.

I do like the wispy grasses though.

Hi Morkel - I've looked at this for a while and don't think it is one of your best. I agree with what Hilary has said, the sky doesn't grab me, the clouds aren't interesting and I too wish for more visible legs. Also the overall image feels on the cooler side. not inviting. I would not necessarily bin it but it is not an image I would hang on the wall either.

    Sorry and TFS,
    Rachel

Love to see trying new things, Morkel, but this one isn't moving me for some reason. I do like the idea of the silhouette and the hint of zebra stripes, but not quite sure why the entire capture isn't working for me.

    Hi Morkel,
i like that you are experimenting a lot, but the risk is that it will be not accepted by yourself or others .

In this case i think , it should go in the bin.

In my mother tongue , i would say straight translated it is neither fish and nor meat.Maybe something in between.

Morkel I think Andreas has answered your own question.

I agree with Marina that it is good that we ALL try to explore new ways in presenting our images, sometimes it works, other times it doesn't.

Thanks folks. I normally am confident in my "experiments" and won't be too bothered by how many people like it.
In cases like this, where I can't make up my mind and it's iffy to begin with, you gave me the nudge in the right direction.

Needs more legs/space between belly and grass for me. I do like the cool mood of the photo. If mine, I'd keep until I get one better.
