Spent a day at Apache Junction before the start of our Grand Canyon trip and was lucky enough to see these guys. You can not believe how well they blend into thier surroundings.
Cropped a bit to eliminate distracting background.

I like the composition and the crazy eye.

Colors seem a bit over-saturated and too yellow.

Hi Gen, I might be tempted to move the crop a little to the RHS to reduce some of the dead space on the LHS, cut cropping is personal, however I do agree on the eye.

The image does look very contrasty, and there is some sharpening halos on the horns. It also lacks the subtle detail & clarity within the subject, especially the horns and agree with Robert about the saturation. I would go back to the RAW and firstly adjust the Colour temp, then any Black or Contrast you may have added, is this a large crop or FF? Looking at the tech I think you should be able to get a lot more from within the image.

Have to agree with Steve here, Gen.
I must confess I couldn't believe the apparent lack of image quality given the gear and settings you used - perhaps just a lapse in processing workflow?
Would be interested to know what you did in PP with this one?

Nice specimen and light - some careful processing could make this pop...

IQ looks better here, Gen. Though the bighorn doesn't look sharp enough (not sure what the RAW looks like). This comp also looks more square, but it works actually.
    Here's a quick repost.
Selectively sharpened the head and applied Nik Tonal Contrast.
Selectively darkened the BG through a luminosity mask

I think Morkel's work has "fine tuned" it very well.

    Hi Gen,
like the pose of the ram and this biiiig horns.
Light was really on your side and the colors are really nice.
Morkel pushed in the right direction.
But composition is not working for me, i mean both.
Would like to see more room on RHS.

I've re worked this guy a few times, thanks to your input and each time I am happier with the results. I don't have much more room on the rhs but I am pleased with the square composition. I believe the raw is sharp and it is just my pp that needs more work. Will continue to do so. Thanks for all the inpunt
