Hey all, thought I'd pop in and say hello in the OOTB forum! Although the Ottawa River is indeed "mighty" in some parts that are more like rapids, the area where I'm at is more of a smooth flowing body of water, rarely with such breaking waves. A strong storm system that came through this past weekend really churned the water's surface. I took advantage of it by practising water blurs by panning the rolling waves close to shore with very slow shutter speeds. Most ended up n the delete bin, but I had lots of fun, plus one or two frames caught my eye!

Canon 7D + 100-400L @285mm, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/10s., f/18, ISO 100. Added lots of contrast and saturation, plus a crop for composition (about 80% FF).

Thanks for popping in. It's a great image and very dynamic. I really like the colors, composition, shapes, and the blur.

Hi, Daniel, it's great to see you in OOTB! And a great image. I love blurs and this is a good one. The sense of motion is fantastic and so are the colors. Hope to see you here more often

Dan, I like this a lot! Very dynamic and gives a good sense of motion... could very well go up as canvas on a wall TFS

Hi Daniel, love the motion and the rising spray from the river. I have never photographed the Ottawa River, but should get over their someday. River blurs are a ton of fun to shoot and one can easily spend an entire day doing them.
