    Default American Avocet

Taken this past weekend in the afternoon. The light was still pretty bright, and I was a bit off sun angle here, so I had to lightened the shadows and toned down the whites a little. Handheld as always.

Nice landing pose and you recovered the shadows very well. I was in CA a couple weeks and tried to get these guys, but no luck.

Aidan - very nice timing on this shot. Your processing of the shadows and whites look spot on to me.

    Aidan:

I like the straight across wing position, feet/legs extended forward, drops coming off the feet, nice water color.

I think you handled the challenging light well. I think the overall is exposure is still a bit bright, and I might try a version 1/3 stop or so darker.

    Good comp.

    Cheers

Hi Aidan, good incoming pose with the full wingspread, and undercarriage ready for landing. Love the droplets too. I feel the exposure is fine, sharp, and if anything, I would move him up in the frame a touch.

Very nice! Solid sharp details. Love the water droplets coming off the feet, must not have flown far from where it took off prior
the image being made....I think the dark bill against the bright wing feathers definitely worked in your favor in regards to the "merge".

Looking ood. I like the "floating in air" wing positions, water drops, and the water along the bottom of the frame. Good processing, and nice details throughout. I could see the subject a bit higher in the frame too.

I like the wing position, sharpness, water drops and details. I could see a version with Avocet higher in the frame too. Well done Aidan.

Sweet and sharp. Do you have a bit more on the bottom? I like the waves on the lower frame edge. Did you get your package?

Thanks everyone, I have a bit more space, so I'll have to try a version with less on top and more on the bottom.
