    Default High Key Boardwalk

This is the reverse view of the pier I posted earlier. The problem I had was they were bringing in sand to fill in the beach so there was a steep drop off on the ocean side and just several posts in the water on the low (ocean) side or you could step up (about 5 ft) and turn the other way and have just the pier. Not an ideal situation but it is what I had to work with This was a three image HDR processed in Photomatix Pro. I used Topaz Color High Key with a Luminosity blend and then Nik Color Efex GND Filter with an orange Color Set to add some color to the horizon, also with a Luminosity Blend.
Thanks for looking. Comments and suggestions appreciated.

Super cool perspective. Great cool blue/gray tones vs. the warm rust colors and pale pink on the horizon.

Cheryl, This has a grand look to it! Does it need a slight rotation? I like the way you chose to process this. It reminds me of a bleach bypass look.

Denise, thanks! I'm not sure about the rotation. The top of the pier doesn't look level but the horizon looks level to me. What to do??? Maybe the sand at the base of the two front posts makes it look uneven. Hopefully, I'll get a concenus

Hi Cheryl, I love the processing for this. You have certainly made the best of what you had to work with. I think the grd nd filter really was a perfect touch to accent that horizon.

I agree with Nancy on the perspective and contrast between warm and cool colors. It's beautiful. As for rotation, I wouldn't touch it. It feels good to me. True, the bottom of the closest horizontal support has a clockwise cant. However, when I took the image into Photoshop and played with horizontal and vertical guides, I found all sorts of deviations, both clockwise and counterclockwise. That doesn't surprise me, at all. The tolerances in this type of construction and the likelihood of eventual settling/shifting are probably reasonably high. If I use the white line as the horizon, it seems to be off in the counterclockwise direction, and fixing that would affect everything else (and exaggerate the cant of that closest horizontal support).

The colors work beautifully here. I like the massiveness of the pier, and the delicate texture of the sand. Nicely processed. Perfect point of view.
