I really like the colors, the action and the setting. I guess if I would wish for anything it would be to have to have a catchlight in the one visible eye......or even a little lighter for more detail. I know that's pretty hard as those "dark eyed" terns seem to have almost invisible eyes. Perhaps a touch of fill flash might have brought the eye out more.

Great shot, tells a story, very soft effect. Nice job.

What amazingly beautiful birds. Please add your location so that we can all know where you are from. I would crop from top and bottom to almost a SQ. If you have any perched stuff on this species, I would love to see it. I can only imagine what that fresh juveniles look like. Thanks for sharing.

Lana, I know what you mean, it's just so difficult to get a nice catchlight on these fellas.
Artie..just updated my location. The birds are nesting on a rock island off Singapore. I have more images on them, including the chicks. How I wish I can share all in a thread! But will follow rules and post slowly. :)
Here's a reworked version. Square crop and made the water more blue. Is this better?

Yes. It places a lot more emphasis on the birds. Thanks for the location update.

The recrop looks amazing. Did you tweak the water colour too...seems "bluer" than in the original post? Great interaction.

    Hi Daniel,

Yes, I tweaked the water color to become more blue. Thought that will make the birds more distinct and come alive... not sure if that has worked though. :)
