Default Mother and Cub in KTP

    Attached Images Attached Images

Photographed these in Kalahari north of Nossob, i think at Qubitjie Quap.
They did not look strong and healthy, and was only one cub left.

Worked heavily on the area below the waterline and the front feet of the female. The area looked awful because of the ripped off parts of the artificial waterhole.

    Beanbag

F5 / 1/250 sec / ISO 200 i know should have taken another setting , but too late.

Processed in RPP and PS ; cloned out that distracting wall as said above ; cropped to 75 % of FF

C&C as always welcome and appreciated.

Andreas - great expressions captured and IQ looks good. Mama does look skinny. Did you do any work to the water itself, it looks a little too clean and smooth?

Rachel - no work on the water.Just the area between the waterline and the front leg of mum.

Very nice image, I like the raised paw and the way both moms ears are turned towards you showing she is keeping a eye on you protecting her youngsters. Great look on the youngsters face.

Hi Andreas, would echo Dumay's comments above, although do the blacks look a little heavy, might be the laptop? I think you could afford to crop a fraction more off the foot of the image if that helps, WDYT?

you're making me miss my happy place now, Andreas!!
Lovely framing and soft (overcast?) light. I agree you could take some from the bottom...
Blacks look fine on junior, perhaps just open them up on mum's face a tad?

Thanks Morkel,Steve and Dumay for comments.
Leave the crop as is, just like it.If i would crop i either loose side ratio or i go tight on one side, from my POV, right ?

Question of how to reduce the blacks ,without loosing any depth in the image. Technical suggestions , please.
Tried it, but then the blacks look washed out.
    So help , please.

    Cheers Andreas

I see these kind of images and can only hope to get out somewhere where these wildcats live for a great photoshoot. I love the way the cub is looking at mom with a sort of "need to keep up" struggle to the expression. PS work looks great
