Thought I might swing by and pay a visit here.

The morning was mixed weather wise, but then that afternoon the sun decided to come out for a change, 'which was nice'.

Very nice Steve. Curious as to why you left room on the left and not right. I feel that the main owl is looking to the right and would have liked to see more room there.

Hi Miguel, the actual shot has the centred Owl, centre of shot, (equal space either side), however there were some OOF (teasel bushes?) in view which I preferred to crop rather than clone.

The Snowy is just looking slightly to the right, so I thought I could get away with it. Hope that explains it.

That make sense. You took what you were given and made the most out of it!

Well done Steve. You got nice and close and a nice bonus to have three tight in frame.

    Steve:

Wonderful to have three in a row. Well exposed.
I agree with Morkel about the overlap. If the front bird had been a bit more upright, to allow more matching poses and full view of all the eyes, would have been even better.

Were they gathered because of food or social activity, or was a normal gathering in that location?

    Cheers

Hi Steve, very nice trio. Where in Canada did you photograph them? I can't wait for this winter to try out some with the D800 and maybe a new lens. I live a short drive away from a large agricultural area that is frequented by snowy owls during the winter months.

Steve - as the others have said, really nice to have 3 in the frame and the rich tones of this. Exp is excellent as expected. I agree with Morkel on the other eye, but we can't have everything. Nice to see you getting back to processing these, I know it has been difficult.

    Rachel

Lucky you to get three in one. I like the setting and the flowers(weeds?) in the bg. I actually kinda like how the left one is somewhat peeking around the front owl

This turned out well Steve and like Dave said, it was nice to get close to these three for a tight image, especially without disturbing them.

Steve I bet you were really glad you decided to swing by! A great shot, not very often you get three in one frame.

Thanks guys, didn't realise so many had commented, only had 3 reply notifications?

As you can appreciate, they constantly move there heads so you take what you can, but fully agree, having that left eye more visible would have been better.

    Appreciate your replies, many thanks

    Hi Steve,
all is mainly said.Like the , i think, very seldom seen or photographed 3 owls in the frame shot.
Very nice depth in the owls, by the different positions of them, beautiful colors all over and specially the layered BG makes it for me.

Not sure about the blues on the not sunlit side of the birds, i would reduce a bit.
Plus i would slightly lighten the darker parts of the image .

    Well done , Maestro

    Cheers Andreas

Hi Steve lovely image, I like it very much. I also would have prefered more room on the right however still work very nicely as posted TFS.
