I liked your previous B&W post but for some reason this one isn't really working for me. I think it's the combination of clipped birds and the HAs only one of which is great...and the heads that are in shade. We cant see what the vultures are looking at either .
I am sure opinions will vary on this one but not your best if you ask me. I do like the 'feel' that B&W gives this one though. Anyhow TFS :)

B & W works for me - shows off the shadows well, I realy like the shadow of the primaries on the other vulture, great texture and detail shown here. Side lighting work for me here. I like the interactions between the main three characters with the ownership pose of two of them. Certaily not a bird on stick image, birds on elephant prehaps. I quite like the various onlookers and do not find them 'distracting'. I Like Black and white images and here I think it works as you are not having to take in colours - I would suspect that the background is various greens and as it looks quite busy, the lack of colour make it blend and not draw my eye to it.TFS
Sure opinions will vary!!!

Hi Mork, another conversion that has turned out well, and I like the various tones in this. Having been at kills with a million vultures, its not easy to capture the entire scene without cutting of some vultures at either end of the image. Love the pose of the vulture on the left.

Morkel, love the light and the diorama type feel to this one. The sundry body parts around the edges of the frame do cause some problems for the viewer, which is a shame because it's a really cool and different image otherwise.
Cheers,
Greg

Morkel - I really like your BW conversions, but this image just isn't doing it for me. The most interesting face of the of the one to the right, and he's been half cropped off. Wondering what it might have looked like if you make him the attention of the image.

I think the b&w works really well for the image and I love the look of the far left bird. I like the interaction and the story it tells but have to agree about wanting better head angles and vieable faces. Still I like the image as it has a spooky kinda animated feel to it.

Thanks for all your honest feedback. I realise that the vulture-portions all around might not be the best, yet as Stu said these sightings are frenetic and even isolating a single bird is a daunting task. I just liked the huddling pose of the vultures around the middle one, sort-of keeping it away from the spoils in a sense...
I've got a few more to share so will see if any of those work better.
