After going thru some images with my good friend, she suggested I rework this image a bit and so I did. I like the outcome. Tasken this past spring Ft Desoto

    Hi Cheryl,
I love the "bug-eyes"! Really great POV and all those flying droplets are terrific.
    Excellent IQ and tack sharp.
I like how the feathers look like parallel ridges and a real treat to see the foot out of the water.
My only suggestion to improve this terrific shot would be a bit more room left and bottom for him to "dive into". The inclusion of the splash behind him is perfect though.
Well done and one of your best IMO,
    Gail

Love the action, Cheryl. I think that Gail has a nice idea regarding the composition. Is this a rb merganser? If so, i thought their eyes were orange and these look red, but I certainly could be off. Glad you reworked this one!

Funny Gail that that would be your suggestion as that is exactly what we decided could be changed from. My original post had more room but after the change, I like the new version better. Here is my original work

Hi Grace and thank you for the comments. Not sure why they look red since I only added some saturation in raw I will look at the original. maybe from the water ?

I am very envious of this capture, Cheryl. I tried so hard for this behavior on the grebes and the mergansers and struck out with each. So my hat goes off to you for capturing this behavior just at the right moment. Just love the way the merganser is jumping right at you. Those red eyes and the splash are both very powerful elements to your image, and I like the way you have given them both power with your OP. My fingers are crossed for next season!

I like this one a lot, there´s lots of action going on and you pressed the shutter at the right time! I wish the bird was a bit back to the right so it would have more room in front.

Hi Cheryl, great action captured here - reminds me of the butterfly stroke in swimming. Love the concentrated effort in the eyes, and of course the flying water asdds so much more. Repost looks even better.

Cheryl - very nice capture! I might even take a little more off the right and add some to the left. Otherwise, stunning!

Really like this dynamic image, Cheryl. Awesome to get the bill all the way in with the eyes still open--and no nictitating membranes!!! I prefer the comp of the OP.
    Great work!

    Great work!
Thanks everyone. Thanks Melissa. I am curious. You like my OP on the top of the page or the Original first crop which is actually my second post here? (confusing I know)

OP at the top of the page, sweets. Somehow I find it more arresting.
