Thanks, Artie ...
Coming into female on branch on viewer's left. I messed up focus on the image with both together :(
Excellent and interesting pose. I like the full wing span and showing the talons, Ian.
Thanks Ian. That must have been one sweet situation. Where?

This is fantastic, Ian. I am able to photograph only the backs of kestrels as they fly away from me each and every time. My prime nemesis bird. You werent in a blind for this?
I really like the pose and the detail under the wings, and those talons ready to grasp.
This was at the Gilbert Riparian Preserve in Gilbert, AZ -- a little east of Phoenix. I occasionally need to work about 10 minutes from there (it's about 45 minutes from home) and last Thursday I got up early so I could do some photography at sunrise before work. All I was seeing was the usual suspects (GBH, egrets, and the like). This pair showed up at the last minute as I was leaving the preserve for work. I had only seen a kestrel there once before. Mellissa, this was one of my nemesis birds as well (along with Kingfishers) and I guess they were feeling kindly that day (I posted another flight image in ETL as well as an unusual perched image). No blind. I had to back up to get them out of the MFD of my 400.

Ian, this is my favourite of your recent Kestrel pictures. Love the wing position, the fanned tail and the feet. Great photo.
Ian, a lot to like. Others have touched on the positive features. Thanks for the detailed history.

very nice Ian, nice pose and good details.

Very, very nice. Love that raised left foot and flared tail.
Gary.
Excellent work here, Ian. The raised leg is a clue that it's about to reach out and grab something,
Very nice.Great pose and nice and close
Great shot and detail. This also my nemesis bird!
Wow! I really like the incoming landing pose and sharpness.
Well done and I am very jealous!

Lovely Image, Apart from what has been said above I love the incoming angle too. Leaves nothing hidden. fine on all counts.
Nice shot of the Kestrel,Ian.Nice composition and very well exposed.Pretty sharp and defenitely the position of the feets add to the image.TFS
Very nice shot! Can't imagine getting an opportunity like this, much less executing the way that you did
