This green heron photo is probably not for everyone without a face but I like the reach, the fish, the splash and the perch. Just wanted to see if anyone agrees with me. Cropped from horizontal to vertical.

    Hey Laurie,
Love the action and the whole comp......light is a bit harsh judging the shadow. I would try to tone it down more overall but if you had nailed this pose earlier......would have worked for me all around!

Pose, action and composition work for me. I agree that bright bg does take away from action.

    Roman and Dave,

This photo was taken at 90am. The sun does not shine on this perch until 9:35am. Unfortunately the sun shines on the background around 7:30am. I could tone down the background but did not - did not think of it.. Thanks for the suggestion.

Don't mind not seeing the face at all! I think the action speaks for itself. It looks like the focus is a bit off though - more to the right than you would have wanted it to be. Great timing on the action!

I like the action shot. You can see the eye of the fish which always nice. Good catch!

Nice action and catch but light is very harsh for my taste.

Thank you everyone for the feedback. I have reprocessed and hope it does not look so harsh. Please let me know if this is an improvement.

Yes, the repost is more appealing to me. Excellent pose here...perhaps the face is not visible, but theyes are! These guys are very acrobatic, and you were fortunate to get this behaviour very nicely. The fish is a nice bonus, especially with the eye so visible.
