Shouldn't really comment without putting one out there myself from time to time. Somewhat drab color wise, this was taken around 7 PM during heavily overcast skies. I had gotten pelted with rain and snow earlier and was heading home for the day when I found these two just off the main road. I liked the mood of the shout as it reminded me of the quiet solitude of the high country in the evening. 5D MKII, 1-400L, f6.3, 1/400s, ISO 2000, HH, small crop all around.

So glad to see you posted a Mountain Goat capture, Steve. Love all the textures here and the colors really complement one another. The shedding adult is a nice touch. You have a very unique BG of what looks like rocks, and I really like the mood it sets. You really acquired great details at ISO 2000.

I agree with you and Marina, the cloudy day gives it a nice mood with the dark background. The nannie has a lot of character with the shedding and broken horn. And that Kid is FAT.

Hi Steve, I agree with Marina, this is a lovely image, great setting and the backdrop really helps define the subjects well. Colours work well and the soft yellow/orchre adds a nice hint of brightness to the image. Good placement of the subjects in frame and although the image may look cleaner without the OOF rock in the FG, I think it works. Good detail as ever and the moulting coat is the icing for me. Look at the image in PS, go to Levels and move the RH slider in to compress the histogram to say 240 where it meets the horizontal axis, better? Might need to mask certain areas to ensure/retain no loss of detail, but I think it helps, WDYT?

Nice to see you back posting again.

Steve - nice detail and comp. They pop from the screen well. The nanny really has character with the shedding and the horn. Nicely processed, I would not have known such a high ISO was used if you hadn't said so.

    Thanks for the comments folks.

    Marina,
The BG is a mountainside covered with boulders, dark spots are the start of the tree line.

    Steve,
Thanks for the tip. It does give it a little more vibrance.

Hi Steve, good eye contact from youngster, and love the fluffy hide, together with the moulting ( if thats what you call it ) from the adult. I like you angle of shooting, and the image has a nice 3D effect to it. Great work at such a high ISO.

    Hey Stuart,
Thanks for stopping by. Moulting works for me . You can sometimes find clumps of that fur blowing all over the mountain.

Lovely scene - just love it. There's a luminous quality about the light you captured and the way the white subjects radiate from the dark BG.
Molting coats is a nice touch.
It is good to see an image from you again, Steve...hopefully more to come soon?
