    Ian,

    Love the mallards and BIF pics show the beauty of flight. In this case I might cut a layer from the top and evict the bright white spot and level the subject to improve the composition. This was a challenging exposure with some hot whites but on balance in check. When shooting subjects like this continue to work the scene, try and control the background (opportunity for you here). You decide what to include and exclude in the picture, manage it effectively to tell the story and support the subject. Keep posting the more you shoot the better you get.

    I agree with the Jeff, the white hotspot in the upper right is a bit distracting so I think cropping it out would help the shot. Other than that for me it is an excellent. I like the composition and the clarity is great.

    Great action shot Ian! You have a nice sharp shot--agree with the other comments on the background.
