Taken at Merritt Island NWR in April of this year. I wish I would have bumped up the ISO to get a sharper image, but at the time I wasn't thinking ("it all happened so quick!").
The before and after is here in a blog post. I had to lighten it up quite a bit, clone out an oof branch that was in between the lens and the bird, and swap out the eye from a photo that was taken just milliseconds after.

Sanjeev - I agree. I think it has to do with the low shutter speed that I had set. I sharpened a bit, but I'm not sure that more sharpening would have resulted in a better image. Basically, I didn't get it right in camera
nice preening pose and good exposure plus a nice BG. I agree the bird is a bit soft as a result of slow ss. I also agree with you that sharpening is not going to help here, still a nice behavior TFS
I like the pose and the perch and the BG.
This would look nice as a vertical with a bit more space on the left.
I see a slight green cast to the feathers especially on the head.
A good shot and I don't find it all that soft-? my eyes

Hi Miguel, I like the lookback pose, and slightly raised wing. Lovely colour to the BG too. I too see a cast, and my eyes see it as green. Desaturating the greens didnt do anything, so I desaturated the cyan channel, and came up with this result. Hope you dont mind.
Love the pose, perch and background. A little soft as you know and not much to do about that. I didn't notice the color cast either, but a nice improvement by Stuart.
