Taken at sunset at Nickerson a few weeks ago. There was this sweet pink light for about 15 minutes before it got too dark to shoot and I got some scuffles between terns and between skimmers. I liked this skimmer one in particular. I did have to remove my teleconverter and push the ISO pretty high to get the action.
    Some crop, NR, sharpening.
Thank you in advance for any comments/critiques, each one appreciated.

Stunning, Melissa. This is the shot I was dreaming of getting when I was there in poor light last month. I never could get them this close, and without clipping a wing. Great positions on both birds, and lovely light.

Great light and excellent IQ! I like the wing positions of both birds and the open beaks.

Great decision to sacrifice reach for light! I think you captured a great moment and the light is to die for :)

Really love the lighting on these Melissa, especially the on in the front. Great flight shot of this species.

    Melissa,

This is a great action shot. I don't know how you do it hand holding a 500 plus not cutting off a wing, good light, enough speed to stop the wings, correct exposure - what else - oh yes the birds are sharp!

    Hi Melissa,
    This is one sweet image!
Love the light and the diagonal line created by the 2 skimmers.
    Wish this one was mine!

Well bite my tail! This one is super-good. Great poses and interaction. The head of the lower bird is in the shadow of its own wing; selectively lightening it just a bit would likely improve it.

Melissa, I really like the poses that you captured. Nice details and lovely light. I might lighten it up a bit if it were mine. Killer good and kudos to you for handholding!

Nickerson Beach is the place to go to this time of the year, by the looks of it.

    Superb shot,
    great lighting and action here.
think it might look better if little more canvas is extended towards
bottom and right and decreased from the left.
