    Default Black Headed Heron

I thought I would visit a different location, so on sunday I went to the University of Pretoria to see who was around. I came away with a few of these Black Headed Herons that were coming and going from their nest. I have shots with a sky BG, and a water BG, and chose to share this one with you. Taken early morning.

As usual gorgeous flight pose captured.
Love the great details and sharpness in whites and grays.I love panorama-crop composition.

That orange eye looks great among the grey plumage of the heron. Awesome details and beautiful BG. Not the best far wing position though, too bad it wasn't up higher or down lower instead of touching the bill.

You took advantage of the great opportunity. That's a nice pose in some very nice light :) I don't mind the far wing touching the bill - I guess it's better than intersecting the face. Nice detail throughout and I'd be interested in seeing the other two captures that you mentioned!

This image really shows why this bird is called "grey heron"
Excellent IQ and I love all the shades of grey...are you trying to capitalize on the runaway best selling book "50 shades of grey"?!! I like the texture and detail in the legs and feet and the visible nail.
I do wish for a better wing position on the far wing.
    good BG

Sweetly lit heron, and razor sharp details are great.
I like the far wing positioning. It's different from the "norm",
and not in a bad way. Almost could imagine the heron is scratching
under it's bill with that wing, or thinking while flying...hmmmmm. Or something like that.

Thanks Gail. I think " 50 shades of grey" will outdo my heron any day.

Thank you all for the kind words and feedback.
