    Default Buff breasted Sandpiper

Inspired by Daniel's beautiful buff breasted sandpiper image posted a few days ago, I took a look at some oldies of mine. This image is somewhat of a miracle as I knew so very little in 2007, but thankfully I knew the Sunny 16 rule. While I wish the legs and feet were in the clear, I'm still quite happy to have this one in my files as opportunities to photograph a cooperative buff breasted sandpiper in these parts happens infrequently.

Hi Grace, really great detail captured on the Sandpiper, and looks like you still got down and dirty way back then to create the low angle. You couldnt have chosen a better complimentary BG, and I like the overall colours in the image.

Love the setting, definitely a traditional setting for this "upland" sandpiper.
Light quality is very good, so besides knowing the f16 rule, you knew good light too :)
Beautiful juvenile bird, sharp details...would not mind a slight head turn towards you.

Oh I love the setting here! Perfect exposure, techs. Only a better HA would have improved this, but it looks good as is.

Such a beauty shot, Grace. I wish it were mine.
I love this species and I have only a few substandard pictures "digiscoped" in 2003.
    Haven't even seen one since.

Beautiful colors, setting, and pose, Grace. How lucky you are to have seen one and done such justice to it in an image.
