    Default Flame Robin (Petroica phoenicea)

Was walking through 20cm high snow today when I discovered a group of Flame Robins. Thus far I had never been able to get a good image of them, but that changed today. Usually I don't like lichen perches, but I thought it fits the alpine/snow theme...

Very nice shot. I really like the background and perch. Great pose, excellent details, and very nice light.
    Well done.

Jan, that orange just jumps off the screen. Beautiful bird and really like the perch. Sharp, well exposed and a beautiful dual tone background. Very nice shot. TFS

This is a very nice shot of a beautiful bird. Well done on the orange/reds there is detail! I really like the background and the perch. Very good overall photo. Did not know that you had snow in Melburne.

One of the most visually striking bird images I've seen in a while.
Love the background gradient. Awesome in all regards.

Absolutely beautiful bird Jan. Yes, that breast colour is very difficult to render (not that I have ever even seen this species!)- did you do anything re. exposure or in post-processing to help out?

All the technical aspects of the image are superb. I think a bit more room at the top would help out.
