I went back to a place today to photograph some "cute goslings" I had seen there a few days before, and was surprised to see this Night Heron taking Mallard ducklings, babies that had been temporarily abandoned by a driven-away mama. There were six ducklings and three were carried off in an hours' time -- before mama finally returned. As the Heron swept back and forth across them the ducklings would dive under the water, but perseverance on the Heron's part paid off. It was a sad morning. And I could do nothing about it. I hope the other three survived . . .
Outstanding behavior captured Wendell !!!! Sure hope the other three made it Normally the mallard moms get help guarding the chicks form others
Love the wing position and light angle Would rotate cw just a bit and do a slight curves adj for more punch Image looks so good I experiment taming some of the highlights in the water Not sure if it will be practical Big Congrats on this one !!!!
