    Default Dunlin on the sand.

I've posted this as I really like the ripples of the sand in the picture. I had to lay down in the mud to get this photo and I dressed in grey to blend in. I'm quickly learning that you don't have to care what on lookers think to do bird photography !!

As always, comments welcomed. Canon 7D, f5.6, 1/640ss, ISO800, +2/3ev AWB. Processed in DPP and PSE10.

Nicely done. What lens? Where? When?

I like your angle to the bird and the head angle and the ripples. The white splotch on the bird's back is somewhat distracting. I wish that the bird were standing on the near side of the ridge so that we had a clear view of both feet (and so do you I imagine) :)

Thanks for the reply Arthur. Sorry, I missed that info. It was taken in August just as the sun was going down and the lens was the Canon 100-400mm, so the same setup as Daniel.

Yes, agree with your points. I do wish the feet were more visible. What I'm am finding is that's it's a rare occasion when everything is perfect, but I guess you guys also experience that to. I'm not sure what to do about the white patch behind the bird. Perhaps I could selectively select it an tone it down. Any ideas on what you'd do?

Wonderful shot. Love the pose and light. Great low angle and the mud ripples are awsome.
    Well done.

Nice low shooting angle, nice pose, details and colours, Simon. I would clone out the bright spot touching the back.

    Simon,
For me the sand makes this image, but the bird is pretty nice, As for the white patch you could try cloning or the patch tool, working at as high a magnification as possible.

Great setting! Really nice light too and the dunlin looks great. I like your slightly elevated shooting angle,
as you were able to get a lot of the ripples in focus...they have such a great texture. I think the image would
be improved by either toning down or removing the white spot above the bird's back.

Thanks very much for all the comments and feedback. I agree with the white patch behind the bird being a distraction but I do agree. I've tried to clone and tone down the patch but unfortunately I'm struggling with PSE10 tools. It might be a case for photoshop on this one.

    Thanks again.
