Strikingly dramatic. Looks as if it could use a healthy CW rotation. (You can connect the center of the eyeballs with the Ruler tool and then hit Image/Rotate/Arbitrary.) Love the background. Is that a bluish cast on the bill from the bird being in shade? All in all, well done.

Wow, that duck certainly grabs our attention!! Quite a goose-like duck :-) Another thing to fix is the white spot at the very corner of the image (top right). A simple 1 second clone job will take care of that.
I really like the eye contact and colorful BG. I'm having problems with the bright top right corner. I would make that the same color as the remaining BG.
I really cannot see any horizontal reference point in the image, and the male duck could well have tilted its head as he plodded towards you. So why change what's natural for the sake of changing it into a symmetrical human acceptable pose? Now, if there was a bank or some indication of what could be the horizontal, then I would most certainly say so too.
I concur though with the brighter spot in the top right corner.
This version really attracts ones attention Sar!!
Great eye contact and must agree with Akos regarding head angle. I think the slight tilt of the head/neck add to the appeal here. looks a tad red in the neck to me though.
Daniel you are correct that it has a goose-like head & neck. The Maned Duck (or wood duck) is actually related to the Pygmy-geese and it really does look more goose-like than a duck ;).
