is my camera metering good ?

i a blue sky (around 11h in the morning) and with a 1d mark 4 , i have taking a good photo of a bird , and i have taken it with AV ( 1/1250 , f7,1 , iso 400 and +2/3 stop ) is my camera metering correct for this sky ?

Hi Erik- Blue sky at 1100 in the morning and I will assume that the "Sunny-16" rule holds. That is that in sunny conditions your exposure should be 1/ISOs @f16. Thus the Sunny-16 for this exposure would be 1/400s @ f16. This translates to 1/1600s @f8. As you were +2/3 stop I'll reduce the shutter speed by 1/3 stop to 1/1250s and I'll increase the aperture by 1/3 stop to f7.1. Hey that's exactly what you shot so I would say your meter is obeying the sunny-16 rule! I think your meter is working fine.

ok, thank you john, isn't it that the 2/3 stop only reduced the schutter speed by +2/3 ??
For the record : I have set the aperture to f7.1 , and set the iso to 400 and dial +2/3 stop in as compensation and i get 1/1250 schutter speed, and i am in aperture programm (AV).
so the meter is ok than ????

Ok, the only difference is that I apportioned the exposure compensation equally between shutter speed and aperture. In Av mode you can give all of it to the shutter speed but the answer is still the same by my reckoning. Your meter seems to be working fine.
