    Default Yellow-bellied Marmot Portrait

Spent a couple of hours with a pair of Yellow-bellied Marmots on Mt Evans which allowed me pretty close access. Light wasn't great but working them in their environment was fun since the wildflowers were in bloom and they were jumping all over the rocks.

    Marina,

Now this is cute with a lovely background.

On my monitor the contrast seems to be a bit to strong, took it into PS and to my eyes toning it down a bit improves the image

Hi Marina, cute portrait of these little guys, they seem quite relaxed allowing you to get close.

The wild flowers adds contact to the image however, as you mentioned, the light does look quite strong. Nice detail and just enough in the eye too. A slight adjustment in Levels perhaps 248 might help, but... If you have used Clarity I might perhaps just ease off a fraction.

    Hi Marina,
lovely portrait with nice colors in the subject . I think contrast and sharpness is just right as presented, just personal taste.
Go with Steve, the flowers adding a nice contrast to the subject. Would like to see a kind of wider shot in horizontal with the whole body and even more flowers in BG.

I like the view here Marina - good low angle and apt background.
Harsh light was handled well, though it would benefit from toning down contrast and/or structure a wee bit

Hi Marina - I too like the wildflower bg and the comp works for me. Good suggestions above about contrast, sharpness and clarity.

Hi Marina, looks like it would have been fun to photograph. A lovely scene with the wildflowers in blooming behind the marmot. It did turn out well for the lighting conditions you were presented and some good suggestions above for reducing the contrast.
